The Door
About the middle of July, during the eleventh through sixteenth years of my life, my parents would allow me to visit my grandfather on his estate in Italy. His estate was a French-style chateau, but it wasn’t the chateau that interested me. What interested me on his estate was the remaining structure of a medieval castle. Within the castle’s great room, at the northwest corner, was a stone stairway that led to what would appear to have been a cellar. At the bottom of the stairway was a sturdy and robust oak door.
I took me several summers to find it. There had been a barricade of useless items in front of the door. Old building stones, timbers, and varied items of debris were there for centuries serving as an obstacle to its discovery.
I was sixteen years old when I was finally able to wedge open the door just enough to peer through that darkened threshold. From the light of my flash light, I saw nothing. The light seemed to stop at the door, I should have too. But curiosity overcame my feel of instinct. I felt surprisingly calm for the amount of time that I spent digging this “archaeological” find out.
“Do hurry up” wailed my impatient sister behind me.
“Not yet, I want grandpa to come too” I replied
“Fine but hurry up and get him!” said my sister obnoxiously.
“No need, I’m already here” said grandpa
Excitedly, I grabbed a timber from the floor and began to wedge the door for a wider opening-an opening I could go through. After squeezing through the door opening, I was overwhelmed by…by…by…well it cannot be described, there was a feeling of danger, old and a feeling of safety and new all at the same time.
“Aghaaa!”My sister screamed
“What is it?!” I asked
“The door shut by itself” she said in a sacred voice.
Needing fresh air, I tried to open the door. I yanked and I jerked but it was no use, it would not budge. Desperately I looked for an opening. But just as I have feared there were none close to us. Then I grabbed my sister by the arms and told her to stay close. If we are going to get out of here we are going to get out of here together. The rest of the story is rather frightening; therefore reader is advised. I decided that while we’re here we might as well find some candles and supplies (we never got to the supply part). Candles because I wanted to conserve battery power on my flashlight. Fortunately, I found some candles nearby. I lit one with some flint that I found then amazingly the candle shown brighter than my flashlight ever did, but that was not important.
“Wow!” My sister and I said simultaneously
“Look at all this stuff,” I said
And indeed there was more stuff here than in my grandmas nine storage units. There were coins and chests and armour and… Wait! The armour had some sort of a stick sticking out from it. When I took a closer look…
“Aghh, a human skeleton is in that suit of armour!”
My little sister fainted! From there I had to carry her. The other funny thing was that the deeper I went the dizzier I got. Then one simple thought cleared my mind like a very strong perfume!
“If there is a skeleton here then that means that somebody died here, and that means that either they couldn’t find an opening or that there is some other danger frightening and killing in here.” I thought out loud
“A light!” I exclaimed
Not for one second did I stop to think what that light was, I just started running toward it. I reached the door that I started from.
“Did I scare you?” said grandpa laughing.
“Hey, was it you who closed the door?” I asked sternly.
“Yes” said grandpa in a laughing voice.
“We have to go kids,” shouted dad
The shout woke my sister who was more than happy to be awake. We hurried upstairs for today we were heading home.
I don’t know if that was a joke or not but what that skeleton was doing there I shall never know. But little did he know that grandpa was the skeleton, but fake grandpa killed him. Anyway he lived happily ever after… or did he?
The End

Drawing #1
Below is a photo of my drawing that I did on May,16,2008 It contains of some flowers and a window in the back.
(The scan didn’t show up very well, sorry)
The boy and the woods (Part1)
“Come on Ben it’s not like the woods are haunted or anything” said Mark to his best friend Ben
“Yeah I know it’s just that these woods give me the creeps” replied Ben as he tried to catch-up to his friend.
“Oh, come on we’ll be late” Mark whined
“Late for what, your girlfriend’s costume party” giggled Ben
“For the millionth time, she is not my girlfriend, just because she invited you and me to her party doesn’t mean that she is my girlfriend.” Explained Mark in an annoyed voice
“Sure, we’ll go with that” said Ben in an annoying type of voice.
“Well anyway we’re here.” Replied Mark excitedly
Jenny opened the door and politely welcomed them. The party was a very nice, there were drink and food, but most importantly there was backyard indoor swimming pool. Ben was in the swimming pool when he heard a voice:
“Ben I know you can hear me, you must save us, you must save us!!!”
Ben looked around there was nobody near him, but then who talked to him? When the party was over Ben and Mark left for home through the city instead of the woods.
“Ok, now tell me why you dragged us all the way through the city instead of the shortcut through the woods” demanded Mark
“I afraid to go there… I heard a voice when we were at the party and it scared me half to death” replied Ben in a frightened voice.
“That is the worst excuse you ever made Ben, good bye” said Mark angrily
“Mark wait!”Screamed Ben
But Mark was already gone. Ben entered his home feeling miserable. He had made his friend angry and scared himself to death.
“What could make this day any worse?” Ben said to himself
“Honey, how was the party” asked Ben’s mother
“Terrible” replied Ben
“I’m sorry to hear that, would you like some”
“No mom I think I’ll go straight to bed” interrupted Ben
“Alright sweetie, good night “said Ben’s mother
“Goodnight Mom” replied Ben
But little did he know that the very forest that he traveled through this afternoon was speaking to him…

Chapter 3 A dream to reality
“Well, well, well, what do we have here” exclaimed Lizzie (the mayor’s daughter).
“Ok, Lizzie you got us, here is the briefcase” said Dave.
Tom looked at Dave in a very surprised way. Why would Dave surrender so easily? Tom thought to himself.
“You know that my impressions are very low of you two, but never the less you do know when to give up” said Lizzie in the nastiest voce you’ll ever hear.
“I guess that even we get tired of getting into trouble, but anyway see you later” replied Dave in a rather innocent type of voice.
“See you losers later, but consider yourself beaten by a girl” screamed Lizzie
Lizzie of course, hurried down from the roof entered the school and was proudly showing off how she “defeated” the two biggest trouble makers in the school. When the mayor saw that his daughter had found the missing briefcase he complimented her greatly.
“Well its fair time that I should hand over the school scholarship papers to the head master” echoed the mayor’s voice in the gymnasium. The eager headmaster tried hard not to tell the mayor to cut the talking and start that “handing over” part. The mayor slowly bent over to open the briefcase. The headmaster started to bend over himself, preparing to receive the papers. The mayors slowly opened the briefcase.
“Mice!” shouted the mayor and the headmaster simultaneously. Everybody started screaming and shouting, the entire school was filled with the hollers and screams of more than 700 student and teachers.
“Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!” Dave and Tom shouted now two blocks away. But their shouting stopped when the mayor came out. Even from far away you could see that he had a terrible look on his face, the look of a murderer, or so it seemed from that distance.
“Oh no” whispered Dave “we have to hide, for at least three hours or so” he continued
“Well we could hide on that hill over there Dave, maybe take a nap” suggested Tom
“That sounds like a good idea Tom” said Dave. So they went to the hill in the country side and very soon fell asleep.
“Aghh” screamed Dave
“What is it!” asked Tom
“I just had a dream that told me that you and I would have to leave home for our own safety a-a-a-and it also said that the town is in danger.” said Dave in very rare scared voice.
“Go where?”Inquired Tom
“To the end of the world…
Chapter 2 The prank of a lifetime

he child mentioned in the last chapter was a very naughty boy when he grew up. He turned up to be the most wanted boy in school. His name was Dave, his friends name is Tom. Tom would usually follow Dave’s plan of destruction but, he sometimes hesitated, fearing the school’s headmaster. But on this particular day they were planning something big. You see, it was a window of opportunity, for the mayor’s daughter was coming to visit the school. (Along with the mayor of course)
“All right, let’s go over the plan once more Tom, this can’t fail” whispered Dave quietly.
“Sure it can, with all this hot summer weather we will die of thirst before we can get this show on the road” Tom whispered back.
“Focus here Tom, now what will we do first?” asked Dave
“We go into the school, grab the mayor’s briefcase take its contents and throw in the river and replace it with those mice we have been collecting.” repeated Tom
“That’s right!”said Dave with a big smile on his face.
Two hours later the mayor’s car appeared in the front schoolyard. Dave and Tom were already in action.
“Alright, you go in and follow the mayor until he sets down the briefcase, then throw it out the nearest window. Remember try to look like an innocent bystander.” said Dave with a rather stern expression on his face.
“Ok, here I go” said Tom
“Good luck” replied Dave from behind a tree.
Tom walked up to the front school yard and tried to make himself unnoticed by the crowed. He walked only a few meters behind the mayor. Then the mayor entered the headmaster’s office and when he came back out the briefcase was no longer with him. Tom then made sure that the headmaster’s office was empty and then quietly entered. He spotted the briefcase and threw it out the window as far as he could. Dave saw the briefcase land in a bush and quickly jumped into action. He grabbed its content and threw it in the nearby river. Then he let the mice in the briefcase. Meanwhile Tom was running for his life, because the Headmaster and the mayor were coming back into the office. Tom quickly climbed out the window himself and started running towards Dave.
“RUN!” he shouted at the top of his lungs.
Dave didn’t hesitate to run; he turned right around grabbed the briefcase in his hand and ran towards their hiding place. When they calmed down Tom explained to Dave that they could not possibly get the briefcase back inside without getting caught.
“What to do…” Dave said to himself.”I’ve got it!” Dave exclaimed “the briefcase has no more content so it’s now useless to the mayor and to us. But the mice aren’t. We can climb on to the roof of the school and open the briefcase inside the air vents then the mice will drop from the sky from their point of view.”
“How do you come up with these plans anyway?” asked Tom with a fair amount of curiosity
“To tell you the truth, I don’t really know.” replied Dave with a slight sound of mystery in his voice.
The boys took no time at all to get to the top of the roof. But when they got up there, guess who was waiting for them there. The mayor’s daughter.

e was deep in the mountains; there would not be any turning back now. The wind blew against his face causing tiny icicles to form; his sight was limited for the mist around him blocked out most visibility. His mind focused on his objective. Everything he ever had was at stake, all of it, just for curiosity. “I need to make it! I must, I can make it” he thought , with all sorts of thought just like this last flying through his head he had forgotten about his footing and therefore slipped. Hanging there only by one hand over 90,000m was not a pretty picture. When he tried to find footing once more, he realized that no matter how hard he kicked his leg I would not hit rock. After thirty more seconds he summoned up all of his remaining courage and jumped forward. For about a minute or so he stood there waiting to feel the acceleration and wind before he would finally die from the impact of the fall. However, nothing happened. He opened his eyes, the mist was gone, and then he saw it…
“That’s all the story says children” said Mr.Neately
“Aww!”replied the children in unison.
One child went up to Mr.Neately and asked
“Why does the story end there Mr.Neately?”
“ Because the next page is ripped.” Replied Mr.Neately
“Where did the next page go?” inquired the child politely once more.
“I don’t know, when I got the book it was already ripped. Now, go on and play with the other kids” said Mr.Neately
“Yes, sir” replied the child after which he went to play with the other kids.
“Strange, very strange” said Mr.Neately to himself.
Mr.Neately’s suspicion was great about this child because there was a prophecy that stated as follows:
“For years no child shall wonder, for years no child shall find interest in this legend written here.
But after a century maybe two one child will inquire what follows in the legend. This child is special, for
He knows the ending, He is the ending!”
Mr.Neately however, took no notice of this prophecy for he considered himself a person with a normal life, and generally speaking a person with a normal life does not encounter great adventures or legends. But as in all stories he was terribly wrong.
